15 July 2022,

This is my third climb and also my second climb to Mount Lawu. The first time climbing was through the Cemoro Kandang route, but this time I went through the Candi Cetho route, and this is also my first time taking an Open Trip (OT). Start from Jakarta around 5 PM using an Elf Mini Car. The journey is ±17 hours because during the trip there are obstacles.

16 July 2022,

Long story short, I arrived at base camp around ±1 PM and immediately rushed to change clothes and repackaged the carrier. Start climbing at 2 PM, before climbing we will register and pray first. The journey begins, from Basecamp — Post 1 takes 60 minutes the road is not too uphill and still a bit sloping. Pos 1 — Pos 2 is about 60 minutes but the road is a bit harsh. Pos 2 — Pos 3 is about 80 minutes, here the road is fully uphill and we set up a tent because the time is approaching 6 PM.

17 July 2022,

Morning arrived and we prepared for the summit attack and didn’t forget to have breakfast before starting. Start ±5 PM by bringing a little stuff to make the trip easier. From Pos 3 — Pos 4 it takes 90 Minutes and from here the road continues to climb. Heading 4 — Pos 5 80 minutes travel time. After Pos 5 we will pass through the savanna which is so wide and beautiful and don’t forget to take pictures.

Then we will pass Pasar Dieng, here I deviated slightly from the path that must be taken from the left but took the path slightly to the right which led me to the fork in the Cemoro Kandang route. What should have been if I followed the right path was Hargo Dalem first and then Warung Mbok Yem, but I kept walking and finally arrived at the Peak of Hargo Dumilah at ±9 AM.

After having fun at the top, we decided to go down and eat at the warung Mbok Yem first. Then, we pack the goods and equipment. Time to go down so fast different from when going up. Arriving at the base camp, we take a shower and prepare to go back to Jakarta.

“Mount Lawu is indeed mystical but behind that mystique, there are a million beauty and biodiversity that we can see and feel. Don’t forget to protect and maintain biodiversity because it must be felt by our descendants”
